Abie Greengarten and Peter Wilson have been very close friends and colleagues for over 30 years after they met during their final years at University during their undergraduate days. They graduated and became chartered accountants and then their business careers diverged.

However, in July 2004 Gateway Partners was formed by Abie and Peter after Peter had returned to Australia after having worked and lived in London and New York for 15 years.

The initial business plan was to purchase small to medium accounting firms and to provide an enhanced service offering to the clients. Since 2004, Gateway Partners has acquired 7 accounting firms in Sydney, Australia and merged them into our Woolloomooloo office. In September 2008, more than 55 people work with Gateway in Sydney and services have been extended to wealth management, insurance, finance, arranging, etc.

In September 2007 with the assistance of substantial individuals who had become investors in the Gateway group, we decided to expand our business offering to London, Russia and other CIS countries in order to create a boutique private client investment firm. We had examined the London market for accounting firms and believed it was quite similar to the Australian market place. So on 30^th June 2008, we acquired our first UK accounting firm  which is forming the base for the development of our business in Europe, Russia/CIS.
